Singer Bad Bunny has signed on to join the cast of Netflix's sequel to the 1996 Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore, per Mia Galuppo of The Hollywood Reporter.

His role has not yet been announced, Deadline's Matt Grobar noted.

Happy Gilmore 2 will star Sandler in his titular role opposite Christopher McDonald, who played antagonist Shooter McGavin in the 1996 film.

Julie Bowen will also return as Virginia Venit, Galuppo reported.

The official Netflix account announced on Monday that Happy Gilmore 2 had begun production, attaching a photo of a Boston Bruins jersey.

A Bruins jersey worn by Sandler during production of the 1996 film recently sold for more than $40,000.

Netflix announced the upcoming sequel, directed by Kyle Newacheck, in May 2024 but has yet to share a release date or synopsis for the film.

This is not the first time Bad Bunny, who was the most streamed artist on Spotify for three years between 2020 and 2022, has expanded his career outside of music.

The singer made his WWE debut in 2021 and has since appeared in multiple professional wrestling events. He has also taken on other acting roles, appearing in the 2022 movie Bullet Train and signing on to join the upcoming film Caught Stealing.
