Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer and Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Josh Jones were ejected following an on-field altercation during a Week 1 matchup between the two teams on Sunday.

After the Chargers scored a touchdown to push their lead to 22-10 with less than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, they attempted a two-point conversion. The attempt was unsuccessful, which subsequently resulted in a scuffle between both teams that primarily involved Palmer and Jones.

Raiders signal-caller Gardner Minshew was intercepted by defensive tackle Poona Ford on the next drive following a tipped pass, securing the victory for Los Angeles.

Before he was assessed with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and removed from the game, Palmer caught two of his four targets for 15 yards. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert spread the ball around against Las Vegas, completing passes to seven different players.

Palmer is looking to build off his 2023 season, as he averaged a career-high 58.1 receiving yards per game. He was limited to just 10 appearances due to a knee injury, though.

As for Jones, he recorded four tackles before he was ejected. The 26-year-old was originally selected by the New England Patriots with a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft before he was eventually released in Nov. 2023. The Raiders claimed him off waivers and he appeared in their final seven regular-season games.

In his 2023 campaign, Jones racked up 37 total tackles to go along with five passes defensed and two interceptions. Pro Football Focus gave him a commendable 71.6 grade for his efforts, allowing 20 receptions on 33 targets.

The two AFC West foes will face off again in Week 18.
