Jannik Sinner Beats Taylor Fritz to Win 2024 US Open Men's Final Bracket

Jannik Sinner defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets (6-3, 6-4, 7-5) to win the U.S. Open on Sunday.

The World's No. 1 men's player earned his second major title after having won the Australian Open earlier this year.

Fritz had a chance to climb back into this match after going up 5-3 in the third. However, Sinner won the next four games, breaking Fritz twice to take home the title.

And so the 23-year-old Italian, who also won the Cincinnati Open and Miami Open, took home yet another title. He also reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and the semifinals at the French Open.

Sinner is the first Italian to win the U.S. Open since 2015 (Flavia Pennetta) and the first male to ever do so.

Fritz was the first American man to reach a grand slam singles final since 2009, when Andy Roddick lost to Roger Federer at Wimbledon. It had been 18 years since an American man reached the U.S. Open final, when Roddick lost that match to Federer in 2006.

It was ultimately a great tournament for Fritz, whose previous best major results were quarterfinal finishes at this year's Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Overall, the 2024 season has been kind to Fritz, who won two ATP 250 events (Delray Beach Open, Eastbourne International) and took bronze in the Paris Summer Olympics doubles competition with Tommy Paul.

But Sinner was the star Sunday. He ultimately fared far better on first serve points won (88 percent to 68 percent) and converted on 6-of-12 break points (to Fritz's 2-of-7). Fritz also committed 34 unforced errors to Sinner's 21.
