College Football Week 2: TV, Live Stream Coverage and Best Games for Top 25 Schedule

Joe Tansey

The Texas Longhorns and Michigan Wolverines get their first chances to prove their championship mettle in 2024 in Week 2's marquee clash.

Texas comes into Michigan Stadium as the No. 3 team in the country. A win would solidify the Longhorns' status as a contender for one of the top seeds in the College Football Playoff.

The same can be said about Michigan, but the Wolverines have more to prove on Saturday afternoon.

Michigan went through a slew of changes in the offseason and the Week 2 showdown will be a good test of all the new faces on offense.

Saturday also provides the first true test for Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. One of the stars of Week 1 goes on the road to Charlotte to take on the NC State Wolfpack in the other Top 25 matchup on Saturday.

Texas is the better equipped team to win a championship in 2024 than Michigan.

The Longhorns returned quarterback Quinn Ewers, who beat Alabama on the road last season and almost beat the Tide in Austin two years ago.

Texas flexed its muscle in Week 1 with a 52-0 win over the Colorado State Rams.

Michigan had no issues with the Fresno State Bulldogs in Week 1, but it still has some questions to answer on offense.

New quarterback Davis Warren only threw for 118 yards in the opener, but he did receive 148 yards from his ground support.

Michigan will still try to win games by dominating the trenches on both sides of the ball, but it lacks the edge in big-game experience at quarterback against Texas and the foes it will face in the Big Ten.

A loss does not take either team out of the CFB Playoff conversation, but a win sets either team up for better push to the postseason.

A Texas win would accelerate the hype for its October 19 showdown with the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, which could turn into a No. 1-versus-No. 2 matchup.

Nico Iamaleava shined in Week 1 with 314 passing yards.

But that was an expected stat line against Chattanooga from the FCS.

Iamaleava should be tested more by NC State on Charlotte, and if he passes that test, Tennessee could be viewed as a serious playoff contender.

The Vols had a far better Week 1 compared to the Wolfpack, who struggled to put away Western Carolina at home.

The ACC as a whole is filled with disappointments from Florida State to Clemson to Virginia Tech to SMU.

An upset in Charlotte would be a huge boost to the ACC's reputation and it could establish NC State as one of the conference title contenders.

A Tennessee victory would put a jolt into Iamaleava's Heisman Trophy campaign and put the Vols in a position to contend for a CFB Playoff berth.

Tennessee still has to play Oklahoma, Alabama and Georgia, but if Iamaleava is the real deal, the Vols could be competitive in almost every game they play.
