Jason Kelce Jokes 'Only Up From Here' amid Hurts, Eagles' 1Q Struggles vs. Packers

Andrew Peters

Jason Kelce is looking on the bright side after the Philadelphia Eagles' disastrous start to the 2024 season.

The former center for the Eagles gave his thoughts on Philadelphia's struggles over the first few plays of the season against the Green Bay Packers on social media, saying it's "only up from here."

The Eagles' season couldn't have gotten off to a much worse start.

New running back Saquon Barkley had a five-yard loss on the first offensive play of the game for Philadelphia. Quarterback Jalen Hurts then threw an incompletion followed by an interception that set up a field goal for the Packers.

On their next drive, the Eagles' lack of Kelce was evident as Hurts and new starting center Cam Jurgens mistimed the snap, leading to a fumble that Green Bay recovered. The Packers then capitalized with another field goal.

Luckily for the Eagles, their troubles didn't plague them on their third drive and they finally got things going. Hurts led Philadelphia down the field before connecting with Barkley on an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Kelce reacted accordingly:

Still, the Eagles' early mistakes were somewhat concerning, especially for a team that's expected to have a bounce-back season following a year that ended in the wild-card round. It's just the first game of the season, though, and mistakes are bound to happen. And as Kelce said, it's only up from here.
