WWE Rumors: Shayna Baszler Agrees to Multi-Year Contract Extension

Mike Chiari

Former NXT women's champion and WWE women's tag team champion Shayna Baszler has agreed to a new contract with WWE, according to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp.

Per Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), exact terms of the deal aren't yet known, but it is a multi-year contract that was signed recently.

Fightful added that Baszler's previous contract was set to expire before the end of 2024, but she is now locked in for the foreseeable future.

The 44-year-old Baszler was an MMA star before getting into pro wrestling and signing WWE. That included competing on a season of The Ultimate Fighter and having a pair of official UFC fights in 2014 and 2015.

After signing with WWE in 2017, Baszler competed in the inaugural Mae Young Classic, reaching the finals where she lost to Kairi Sane.

The Queen of Spades went on to become one of the most dominant female Superstars in NXT history, holding the NXT women's title twice for a total of 549 days, which is the most combined time as NXT women's champion.

Baszler has not achieved the same level of singles success on the main roster, but she did face Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 35, and she beat real-life friend Ronda Rousey in an MMA Rules match at SummerSlam 2023, which was Rousey's final bout before leaving WWE.

The Submission Magician has been more of a tag team specialist on the main roster, having held the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships three times.

Baszler is currently part of a stable known as Pure Fusion Collective with Sonya Deville and Zoey Stark, which officially formed in July.

Although they have yet to break through, Baszler and Stark have been pursuing the WWE women's tag team titles. Should they win them, Baszler will tie Asuka for the most women's tag team title reigns in WWE history with four.
