Bam Adebayo, A'ja Wilson Respond to Miami-Dade Mayor Teasing Stars amid Dating Rumors

Miami-Dade County mayor Daniella Levine Cava may have let the world in on a not-so-hidden secret when she was presenting Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo and other local Olympians with the key to the city on Wednesday.

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson was also in attendance, which prompted the mayor to say, "She won gold in women's basketball. I guess that has something to do with Bam and the Heat, huh? Being here today?"

Wilson and Adebayo were among the social-media reactions to the situation:

A week later, the Aces seemed to reference this relationship with their tweet celebrating Wilson breaking the scoring record:

Both Wilson and Adebayo helped led the United States to gold in the women's and men's basketball competitions.

Wilson was particularly dominant and averaged 18.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game, while Adebayo was more of a role player for the Americans and posted 6.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

As for the comments during the presentation on Wednesday, the mayor must have been paying attention to some of the rumors circulating.

"Fans have been convinced that A'ja and Bam are an item for months," Meghan L. Hall of USA Today wrote. "The two hoopers were spotted together in Las Vegas earlier this year, and the rumors swirled. It got even louder during the Olympics when fans caught wind of a subtle Aja-Bam handshake after the Team USA women won gold."

Wilson being in attendance while Adebayo was being presented a key to the city will do nothing to quiet those rumors.

Adebayo wasn't the only Olympian recognized in the ceremony, as artistic swimmer Daniella Ramirez, sprinter Twanisha Terry, water polo goalie Ashleigh Johnson, sailor Sarah Newberry Moore and judoka Angelica Delgado were also honored.
