Mac McClung could be shining on NBA courts in 2024-25.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that McClung had agreed to a "partially guaranteed" contract with the Orlando Magic.
McClung will get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot in Orlando. He spent the 2023-24 season with the Osceola Magic, winning the G-League MVP. He is also notably the back-to-back NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion.
McClung last played in the NBA in the 2022-23 season with the Philadelphia 76ers. He has only played in four total NBA games in his career, averaging 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
He was a force to be reckoned with in the G-League in 2023-24, averaging 24.7 points, 6.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 28 regular season games. This was the best output he has had since beginning his pro career in 2021-22.
Orlando was a strong team in 2023-24, going 47-35 and earning the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Magic would lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games in the first round, but the foundation built around Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner appears to be strong.
McClung will hope to contribute to that and solidify himself as a true NBA player with this opportunity in Orlando.
