Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin Trolls Brian Kelly After LSU's Loss vs. USC with Coca-Cola Joke

The unique back-and-forth Coca-Cola battle between Lane Kiffin and Brian Kelly continued on Tuesday with the Ole Miss head coach trolling Kelly in the wake of LSU's loss to USC.

After a fan posted an image of Kelly's distraught face from his emotional press conference on Sunday night, Kiffin responded by joking that maybe he needs a Coke Zero and a smile.

The situation started when Kiffin went on a tangent about the amount of sugar in a single bottle of Coca-Cola—which has a sponsorship deal with the University of Mississippi—during a press conference on Aug. 19.

Two days later, Kelly poked fun at Kiffin's comments by starting his press conference praising Coca-Cola and its products.

The two SEC coaches have traded words online for years. Kiffin trolled Kelly in 2022 when the LSU head coach took a Glambot photo with tight end recruit Danny Lewis Jr.

Nearly 10 months later, Kelly and the Tigers got revenge after a 45-20 win over then-No. 7 ranked Mississippi.

Since Kelly was hired by LSU in November 2021, the Tigers and Rebels have split two head-to-head meetings with each team winning on their home field. Ole Miss earned a 55-49 win last season in the highest-scoring game in the history of the rivalry.

Both Mississippi and LSU entered this season ranked in the top 15 of the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll. The Rebels' starting position of No. 6 is their highest preseason ranking since 1970.

Kiffin's team opened the season with a 76-0 victory over FCS program Furman on Saturday. Kelly and the Tigers were upset by No. 23 USC, 27-20, at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday night.

LSU and Mississippi will renew the Magnolia Bowl rivalry on Oct. 12 at Tiger Stadium.
