Jordan Spieth Says Surgery on Wrist Injury 'Went Smoothly'; Focused on Rest, Rehab

After announcing earlier this month he would miss the rest of the season due to a wrist injury that required surgery, Jordan Spieth underwent a successful operation last week.

In a post from Saturday on X, Spieth said the procedure "went smoothly" and he is focused on "rest and rehab" to return to the course in 2025.

Spieth told reporters on Aug. 18 after wrapping up a disappointing performance in the FedEx St. Jude Championship he was going to end his season prematurely to correct a wrist issue that's been bothering him for some time.

"I've got to have it operated on ASAP, and then I'll go through the process of what I'm supposed to do from there," he said.

Spieth finished tied for 68th at the St. Jude Championship with a score of nine-over par. He either missed the cut or finished over par at each of his last four tournaments this season.

The 31-year-old finished outside of the top 10 in 14 consecutive tournaments. His last top-10 finish was at the Texas Open in April as part of a four-way tie with Matt Fitzpatrick, Peter Kuest and Mac Meissner.

Spieth originally wrote that he was experiencing wrist pain in May 2023 after withdrawing from the Byron Nelson tournament. He had as many top-10 finishes as missed cuts (three) over the final 10 events he played last year.

Speaking to the Associated Press about the procedure, Spieth didn't give a definitive timetable for when he will return other than to say he "won't know until a few months in" how long it might take to feel normal.

The 2025 PGA Tour season begins with The Sentry from Jan. 2-5, followed by the Sony Open in Honolulu from Jan. 9-12.

Spieth hasn't won a Tour event since the RBC Heritage in April 2022. His last win at a major tournament was the Open Championship in 2017.
