Report: Deion Sanders, Colorado Allege Oregon Accessed Private Data in 2023

While Deion Sanders' Colorado football program did not provide any evidence, it reportedly reached out to the Pac-12 and alleged Oregon obtained unauthorized access to the Buffaloes' online service that would have included practice video before their matchup last year.

A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports reported Wednesday that Sanders was involved in Colorado's initial outreach to the Pac-12 in which football staffers identified the possible "incursions."

According to the report, the Pac-12 took the allegations seriously enough to ask for additional information and whether the Buffaloes wanted to open an investigation that may have even involved the FBI to determine the level of illegality.

However, Colorado chose not to pursue it any further and did not provide the conference with any evidence, per Perez.

What's more, Catapult—which is a technology system used by Colorado—found that its systems were not compromised when it conducted its own investigation.

"We are unaware of any information that provides any credibility to this claim and see no reason to comment further," an Oregon athletics department spokesperson said, per Perez.

The Ducks handled the Buffaloes with ease in a 42-6 victory, which started a downward trend for Sanders' team. Following a 3-0 start that included a dramatic double-overtime win over Colorado State, Colorado went 1-8 over the final nine games and won a single conference game in the Pac-12.

Five of the losses were by single digits, but it still fell two wins short of qualifying for a bowl game after a promising start to Sanders' first campaign as head coach.

Colorado and Oregon won't be seeing each other nearly as often following an offseason of conference realignment. The Ducks are now in the Big Ten and will battle the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, USC and more, while the Buffaloes are in the Big 12 alongside Utah, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Arizona, among others.

Sanders' team will be under the spotlight once again in 2024 and will look to bounce back from a disappointing record. Its first game is Thursday against North Dakota State.
