Bold Predictions for Packers' Individual Stat Leaders in 2024 NFL Season

Alex Ballentine

The Green Bay Packers won't be sneaking up on anyone in 2024.

Last year there were questions about Jordan Love and the Packers young receiving cast. There was the potential for the Packers defensive talent and coaching staff to keep them relevant, but there were just a lot of questions about the offense and how good it could be.

By the end of the season, there was no doubt that the Packers and their young offense were dangerous.

Now it's the defense that has a few questions. The Packers underachieved on that side of the ball last season but they brought in defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to potentially get more out of their talent.

But the Packers are going to be a much scarier offense with another year for their young talent to jell and an experienced play-caller like Matt LaFleur pulling the right levers.

With that in mind, here are some predictions for the team's stat leaders in 2024.

Jordan Love Finishes Among Top 3 in Passing Yards

Maybe this take isn't all that bold. Jordan Love finished seventh among all passers in yards last season with 4,159 yards.

Not everyone seems to think that Love is just going to pick up where he left off or even improve his rank among the top passers in the league. For instance, FantasyPros projects Love to finish 11th in the league in passing yards.

Those projections don't seem to factor the in-season development for Love last year.

According to the Packers' dope sheet, the quarterback was undoubtedly among the elite at the position over the second half of the season. He ranked first in passing touchdowns and first in yards.

Love's command of the offense, combined with the improvement of his weapons throughout the year, had the Packers operating at a higher level by the end of the year. If they can continue that trend right away, he's going to put up even bigger numbers in 2024.

Love was only 400 yards behind Dak Prescott who finished third last season. That's just 23.5 more yards per game, which doesn't seem like an extravagant improvement.

No Receiver Goes for More Than 800 Yards

This prediction might seem opposed to the first one, but it's entirely possible that Love goes off while the Packers receiver room is the source of complete frustration for fantasy football managers.

Christian Watson is going to be the favorite to be the team's No. 1 receiver. He has the highest draft capital and led the team in targets per game. His potential as a big-bodied vertical threat with speed to burn is apparent.

But the truth is that the strength of this receiver group is in its depth. Watson will be the No. 1 target some weeks. Other weeks, it's going to be Jayden Reed. Dontayvion Wicks showed last season that he could be the top receiver in other weeks.

Romeo Doubs led the team in receiving on four different occasions last season.

The Packers had nine different players lead them in receiving in any given week last season. That included at least one week where running back Aaron Jones or tight ends Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft.

Josh Jacobs Finishes Outside the Top 10 in Rushing Yards

There weren't many running backs that got paid in free agency. The major exceptions to that rule were Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs. The latter got the biggest contract of them all when he signed a four-year, $48 million contract from the Packers.

Green Bay wouldn't commit that kind of money unless they expected Jacobs to return to the form that saw him lead the league in rushing in 2022.

That wasn't the player that Jacobs was last season when he averaged just 3.5 yards per carry and finished 25th in rushing after playing 13 games.

Some of the dip in production had to do with the blocking in front of him. Some of it had to do with Jacobs injuries that held him out of four games.

But it wasn't all on health and line play. Jacobs was 49th in yards created per touch, per Player Profiler.

Combine that with the potential for rookie MarShawn Lloyd to take on a bigger role as the season progresses and a strong passing game with Jordan Love and it's hard to see Jacobs putting up a monster year on the ground.
