Video: CeeDee Lamb Says He's Waiting on Cowboys' Phone Call amid Contract Rumors

CeeDee Lamb is waiting for the Dallas Cowboys to contact him as he attempts to secure a long-term contract before the start of the 2024 season.

"Still waiting on that phone call, but until then we grind," Lamb said in an Instagram video posted on Friday.

"Control what I can control, and that's to be the best version of me," he added.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that Lamb and the Cowboys "aren't all that far apart" in contract discussions.

Lamb has been holding out of training camp and Dallas could be motivated to get a deal done in order to ensure that he'll be on the field for the team's Week 1 matchup with the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that the team is in "good shape" with Lamb and contract discussions are "promising" on Tuesday, per ESPN's Todd Archer.

"The facts are that I believe we'll come together," Jones said, via Archer. "I don't want to speak for him. That's what I'm trying not to do. But we wouldn't have offered him what we've offered him if we didn't want him to be here."

Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reported on Aug. 16 that Dallas offered Lamb a contract "slightly under $33 million per season." That would put him behind Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson for the second-highest average salary among wide receivers in the NFL (per Spotrac).

After setting single-season franchise records with 135 catches for 1,749 yards in 2023, Lamb is currently set to earn just under $18 million before hitting free agency in 2025.

As the start of the regular season draws closer, Lamb and the Cowboys could be more willing to re-engage in extension talks and secure his long-term future in Dallas.
