Field Yates NFL Mock Draft 2025: Carson Beck to Giants, Shedeur Sanders to Titans

As the 2024 NFL season quickly approaches, prognosticators have already begun looking ahead to the players likely to be chosen at the top of the 2025 draft.

ESPN's Field Yates released a 2025 mock draft on Wednesday, and he predicted that the New York Giants will trade up to the No. 1 pick to select Georgia quarterback Carson Beck. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was the second signal-caller off the board, going to the Tennessee Titans with the No. 4 pick.

The full top 10 in Yates' mock draft is as follows:

  1. New York Giants (projected trade with NE): Carson Beck, QB (Georgia)
  2. Carolina Panthers: James Pearce Jr., Edge (Tennessee)
  3. Denver Broncos: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT (Texas)
  4. Tennessee Titans: Shedeur Sanders, QB (Colorado)
  5. Washington Commanders: Mykel Williams, Edge (Georgia)
  6. New England Patriots (projected trade with NYG): Will Johnson, CB (Michigan)
  7. Minnesota Vikings: Mason Graham, DT (Michigan)
  8. Las Vegas Raiders: Quinn Ewers, QB (Texas)
  9. Arizona Cardinals: Nic Scourton, Edge (Texas A&M)
  10. New Orleans Saints: Will Campbell, OT (LSU)

It was just over a year ago that the Giants signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract extension, so selecting Beck would signify a reset for the franchise. Yates explained the reasoning behind his prediction, noting that another subpar season could spell the end of Jones' time in New York.

"Daniel Jones has no guaranteed money left on his contract past this season, and if the Giants finish with a record commensurate with the sixth pick, it's safe to assume they'd be in the quarterback market," Yates stated.

Beck, who is entering his senior season with the Bulldogs, is coming off a strong 2023 campaign in which he ranked third in FBS with 3,941 passing yards and fourth with a completion percentage of 72.4 percent while adding 24 touchdowns against six interceptions. If New York determines it's time to move on from Jones, Beck would be a solid replacement as a cornerstone to build around.

Similarly, the Titans already have a quarterback in place with 2023 second-round pick Will Levis. However, Yates believes that a pick high in the 2025 draft would trigger discussions in Tennessee on whether it's time to address the quarterback position once again.

Sanders is an impressive talent who Yates described as "an absolutely surgical pocket passer." In his first year in Colorado in 2023, he threw for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns against just three interceptions while completing 69.3 percent of his passes. Yates noted that the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders "could wind up in the conversation for the first overall pick of the draft."

Of course, there's a ton that can change between now and the 2025 NFL draft, so it will be fun to watch if Yates' predictions come true.
