The hunt for the Davey O'Brien Award will begin very soon.

The Davey O'Brien Foundation released a preseason watch list on Thursday for the award, which is given annually to college football's top quarterback.

The 2024 preseason list features 22 seniors, 12 juniors and two sophomores. Some notable nominees include:

• Carson Beck (Georgia)
• Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)
• Quinn Ewers (Texas)
• Dillon Gabriel (Oregon)
• Kyle McCord (Syracuse)
• Jalen Milroe (Alabama)
• Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)
• DJ Uiagalelei (Florida State)
  

Overall, the list includes eight quarterbacks each from the ACC and Big 12, six from the SEC, four from the Big 10, three from the American Athletic Conference, and two each from Conference USA and the Sun Belt.

Recent winners of the award include Jayden Daniels, Max Duggan and Bryce Young. Five of the last seven winners of the award have also won the Heisman Trophy in the same season.

The preseason watch list starts the process for determining the 2024 winner but players who are not on the list will still have a chance to come away with the hardware. A midseason watch list will be released in October that will include players who have excelled during the first eight weeks of the season.

The list will be whittled down to 35 players on October 29 and the semifinalists will be determined on Nov. 12. The finalists will be named on Nov. 26 and the winner will be announced on Dec. 12.
