It turns out there may have been a reason that Kevin Durant wasn't included in Nike's initial "Winning Isn't for Everyone" advertisement it launched ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Durant turned some heads when he wasn't in the commercial and responded by asking Nike on Instagram Stories, "Am I a bad person?"

Well, Nike had its answer after he broke Lisa Leslie's all-time scoring record in United States Olympic basketball history:

Durant entered Tuesday's quarterfinals matchup against Brazil just six points behind Leslie's mark of 488 career Olympic points. He ended up with 11 points off the bench as the Americans cruised to a 122-87 victory and clinched a spot in the semifinals.

Leslie was among the first to congratulate him:

Nike's billboard was not the first time celebrating Durant's accomplishment in the immediate aftermath. It also released a commercial narrated by Colorado football coach Deion Sanders that said, "There's a Reaper. And every four years, your time runs out. You might forget your debts, but he's ready to collect."

For his part, Durant was more focused on the team and praising Leslie as the "gold standard."

Durant and the Americans will face Serbia in Thursday's semifinals. If they manage to win that and defeat the winner of the game between France and Germany for the gold medal, the future Hall of Famer will only add to his illustrious Olympics resume.

He already has gold from the 2012 London Games, 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and the 2020 Tokyo Games to go along with his record.

Next up is a fourth gold.
