The New England Patriots were reportedly willing to offer San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk a four-year extension worth an average annual value of $32 million, per sources to ESPN's Mike Reiss, who relayed the information on the Felger & Massarotti show on 98.5 The Sports Hub (conversation begins at 17-second mark).

Aiyuk has issued a trade request amid his camp and the 49ers being unable to come to terms on a long-term contract extension. The 26-year-old, who caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023, is in the final year of his rookie deal.

Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports reported Tuesday that the Patriots "had an agreement in place with the 49ers and a large offer to Aiyuk on the table, but he did not show interest in going there." ESPN's Adam Schefter also added Tuesday that the Pats had pulled themselves out of trade negotiations.

On Wednesday, Schefter provided the latest on the current situation, noting that the 49ers aren't in a rush to make an Aiyuk trade.

As has been reported by multiple sources, including NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns are in the mix for Aiyuk.

There's been a heavy dose of chatter regarding Aiyuk eventually landing in Pittsburgh. Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan reported this Wednesday.

Garafolo and Rapoport then added Tuesday (h/t Jacob Punturi of Pittsburgh Steelers on SI) that they believed the "eventual outcome" is for Aiyuk to end up in Pittsburgh.

For now, though, Aiyuk remains a member of the San Francisco 49ers, who are reportedly intent on waiting here for their most desirable outcome.
