NFL Rumors: Haason Reddick's Jets Contract Talks Trending 'Positively' amid Holdout

Haason Reddick has yet to participate in training camp with the New York Jets amid a contract holdout, but there are signs that a breakthrough could happen soon.

Per NFL insider Josina Anderson, talks between Reddick's camp and the Jets have "positively" progressed this week and there's "hope" he could be at camp in the near-future.

The Jets acquired Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 third-round pick that could become a second-rounder.

Reddick, who is entering the final season of his contract, had already sat out organized team activities and mandatory minicamp while seeking a new deal. His base salary for 2024 is $14.3 million.

Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reported earlier this week that the Jets are open to giving Reddick an extension that would make him one of the highest-paid edge rushers, but the two sides had an understanding he would be required to "show up and perform on the field" in regular-season games before they would take that step.

The Eagles originally signed Reddick to a three-year, $45 million contract as a free agent in March 2022. His $15 million average annual salary is tied with Uchenna Nwosu of the Seattle Seahawks for 19th among all edge defenders.

According to Hughes, Reddick is seeking a deal in the range of $25-28 million per season. That would put him between Myles Garrett ($25 million) and T.J. Watt ($28.002 million) in the edge-rusher hierarchy.

Based on his production over the past two seasons, Reddick has outplayed his contract. The 29-year-old has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past two years and finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2022 after recording a career-high 16 sacks.

The only players with more sacks than Reddick's 27 over the past two seasons are Garrett (30), Nick Bosa (29) and Micah Parsons (27.5).
