UFC 306 will feature bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley facing off against Merab Dvalishvili at the Sphere in Las Vegas, according to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

Alexa Grasso will also go up against Valentina Shevchenko for the women's flyweight title, while Diego Lopes will fight Brian Ortega.

O'Malley will be looking for the second defense of his championship after previously unanimously defeating Marlon Vera at UFC 299 on March 10 to avenge his prior loss to Vera.

O'Malley improved his record to 18-1-0 with 12 knockouts following his victory over Vera. The 29-year-old first claimed the bantamweight title with a TKO win over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292.

As for Dvalishvili, he's currently in the midst of a 10-fight win streak and has defeated former champions such as Jose Aldo, Petr Yan, and Henry Cejudo. The 33-year-old owns a record of 17-4-0, with his most recent victory occurring against Cejudo at UFC 298.

Dvalishvili has had his sights set on a fight with O'Malley, jokingly digging a grave for his future opponent in an Instagram post on May 1.

"Don't be surprised, I may knock him out because he is very confident and I have some skills," Dvalishvili previously said on March 12, via MMA Fighting's Drake Riggs. "I'm getting better and I'm training and I can knock out O'Malley, I believe so."

O'Malley has also called out Dvalishvili in the past, saying that there are "multiple ways" to beat his upcoming opponent.

"Merab is f--king next," O'Malley said in March, per MMA Junkie. "His wish is granted. A lot of people said I'm ducking him. I just really am not ducking that little dude. I like the fight for me. There's multiple ways to win. I'm excited about the fight now finally."

The two are now confirmed to be facing off against one another in Las Vegas on Sept. 14.
