Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott Reveals Advice for CeeDee Lamb amid WR's Contract Holdout

Andrew Peters

As his teammate CeeDee Lamb continues his holdout for a contract extension, his Dallas Cowboys teammate Ezekiel Elliot offered him some words of advice.

"It's really tough because you go through your first three or four years and you guys are on the same side, and this is the first time that now you're kind of going against each other," Elliott said, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "So, you've got to have a little thick skin. There's some little extra stuff that comes with it, but at the end of the day, we all have the same goal."

He added: "The team understands that CeeDee needs to handle his business and CeeDee understands that he has the support of the team behind him. Just stay in shape, which it looks like he's doing, and be ready to go once the deal gets done."

Lamb, entering his fifth year with the Cowboys, is set to make $17.99 million on his fifth-year option in 2024.

Elliot, who played for Dallas from 2016 to 2022 and returns this season after a one-year stint with the New England Patriots, missed all of the Cowboys' training camp and preseason games while holding out. That holdout resulted in a six-year, $90 million contract that included $50 million in guaranteed money.

Lamb, one of the top receivers in the league, is hoping he can have similar success to Elliot at the end of his holdout.

Per Spotrac, Lamb has a market value of $31.75 million per year, which would put him among the NFL's highest-paid receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Justin Jefferson and others.

That market value isn't a surprise considering Lamb's mammoth numbers from last season. He had the most receptions in the league with 135, the second-most receiving yards with 1,749 and the third-most touchdowns with 12 on the year.

Both the Cowboys and Lamb are likely hoping his holdout will be settled before the start of the regular season so the All-Pro receiver can continue his success.
