Warriors' Draymond Green: 'Probably Got 2 More' NBA Seasons Left Before Retiring

Andrew Peters

Draymond Green believes his time in the NBA could be coming to an end soon.

On Jeff Teague's Club 520 podcast, the Golden State Warriors forward said he only has a few years left before he calls it a career.

"I'm on the wrong side of my down slide," Green said (h/t Real GM). "Like, I'm headed into Year 13. I probably got two more (seasons)."

Green, a key member of the group that helped the Warriors win four championships, will be 35 before the end of the 2024-25 season. The 13th-year veteran has three years remaining on his four-year, $100 million contract, with the last year being a player option worth $27.7 million.

Whether Green will actually retire in two years is to be determined, but in the meantime, he'll look to put his best foot forward and help Golden State get back on track after missing the postseason.

Green put up 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and six assists per game last year, continuing to play the role he has for most of his career with the Warriors. But his efforts weren't enough to lead Golden State to the playoffs as the team went 46-36 in a tough Western Conference.

Things don't get much easier for the Dubs this season as they'll have to adjust to life without Klay Thompson, the veteran sharpshooter who departed for the Dallas Mavericks in free agency.
