Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis used his Instagram account to detail an incident that occurred on a United Airlines flight from Denver to California that he said left him feeling "humiliated, embarrassed, powerless and angry."

Davis was traveling with his wife and three children on Saturday and said he "lightly tapped" the flight attendant to get his attention when he either ignored or did not hear a request for a cup of ice from the former running back's son.

According to Davis, the flight attendant responded by yelling, "Don't hit me," before leaving the area to not be seen again for the rest of the flight.

Then, per Davis' statement on Instagram, the pilot asked everyone to remain seated upon landing. When the plane landed, six FBI agents and local law enforcement boarded the plane to handcuff the 51-year-old and walk him off the plane.

"The traumatizing experience of my two sons, my daughter, and my wife watching me being placed in handcuffs—without due process or any explanation—cannot be undone," Davis said.

Mark Puleo of The Athletic shared a statement from United Airlines that said, "This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide, and we have reached out to Mr. Davis's team to apologize."

The statement also revealed the flight attendant in question was removed from his position while the situation is being investigated.

Parker Stinar, Davis' attorney, wants more than just an apology, however.

"An apology without action is just words," Stinar told TMZ Sports. "... It really doesn't address the situation. We can't unright the wrong."

Stinar also told TMZ Sports that legal action against United is being considered.

Davis was one of the best running backs in the NFL during the 1990s and played for the Denver Broncos his entire seven-year career after they selected him in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL draft.

He was a two-time Super Bowl champion, one-time Super Bowl MVP, three-time first-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler. He also won the 1998 league MVP while rushing for 2,008 yards and 21 touchdowns and was a two-time Offensive Player of the Year.

The Broncos legend was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2017.
