Barbora Krejčíková capped off a stellar run at Wimbledon with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win over Jasmine Paolini to capture the second major singles title of her career.

Krejčíková needed just 35 minutes to win the first set. Paolini rebounded in the second set by winning the first three games en route to a 6-2 victory that sent the match into a decisive third set.

Paolini carried that momentum over to the start of the third set, as she won the first game. Krejčíková got back on track with her first service game in the third set to even things up.

Things looked to be going back in Paolini's favor when she won two of the next three games to take a 3-2 lead. Krejčíková turned up the intensity en route to winning the three straight games. She was on serve in the ninth game with a chance to secure the championship.

On the third championship point, Krejčíková was able to put her name into the history books.

After defeating four of the top 13 seeds in each of the final four matches to earn her first Wimbledon title, Krejčíková earned rave reviews from fans and analysts for her performance over the past two weeks:

The 28-year-old Krejčíková reached the final after having never advanced past the fourth round in her previous three appearances in this tournament. She had only reached the quarterfinals at a grand slam tournament three times since winning the 2021 French Open.

Since Serena Williams won back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2016, there have been seven different Wimbledon champions in the past seven years of the tournament. It's the longest such streak during the Open era.

Krejčíková made history as the second-lowest ranked player (No. 32) to win the women's singles title at Wimbledon since 1975. Markéta Vondroušová was ranked No. 42 when she won last year.

Next up for Krejčíková will be playing in singles and doubles at the Olympics, followed by the U.S. Open starting on August 26.
