WWE Rumors: Natalya Agrees to New Contract Ahead of SummerSlam 2024

Despite the reported recent expiration of her contract, veteran Superstar Natalya is reportedly staying in WWE.

According to PWInsider.com (h/t WrestlePurists), Nattie has agreed to a new deal with WWE, thus extending her 17-year run with the company.

Back in May, Fightful Select (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) reported that Natalya was set to become a free agent "in a couple of weeks."

Natalya, 42, is the daughter of late WWE Hall of Famer Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, but she has already spent significantly more time in WWE than her father did.

The Calgary, Alberta, Canada, native signed a developmental deal with WWE in 2007, and she was called up to the main roster by 2008.

During her 16-year run on he main roster, Nattie has become a one-time Divas champion, one-time SmackDown women's champion and one-time WWE women's tag team champion.

She has also set several records during her WWE tenure, including most pay-per-view appearances, most total matches and most wins by a female Superstar, as recognized by Guinness World Records.

Natalya has been utilized as more of a role player than a top star in the women's division in recent years, but she still brings a great deal of value due to her wealth of experience, ability to help develop other members of the women's division and in-ring skills that seemingly haven't diminished.

Prior to recently disappearing from WWE programming, the company appeared to be offering a glimpse into how she would be utilized moving forward should she re-sign.

Nattie was being featured on both Raw and NXT, working primarily with young, experienced performers such as Lola Vice, Kiana James, Karmen Petrovic and Izzi Dame.

Natalya was also often seen talking backstage with Sonya Deville, who formed a new stable with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark this week on Raw.

The Queen of Harts disappeared from WWE programming after her win over Dame on the June 4 episode of NXT, which led to questions regarding whether she was considering signing elsewhere.

Fightful Select (h/t Mukherjee) reported last month that Natalya was expected to receive outside interest from other companies once she became a free agent, with AEW standing out as a possibility.

However, re-signing with WWE always felt like the most likely move for Nattie, both due to her history with the company and the fact that her husband, T.J. Wilson, is a respected backstage producer for WWE.

Given the wealth of knowledge Nattie possesses, it is fair to wonder if her reported new WWE deal includes a plan for her to eventually transition into a similar producing or training role in the future.
