Video: Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown Builds His Perfect WR; Takes Tyreek Hill's Speed

Julia Stumbaugh

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown says he would use the speed of either Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill or Hall of Famer Randy Moss to build the "perfect wide receiver."

St. Brown said on The Pivot Podcast (52-minute mark) that his ideal wideout would have the speed of Hill or Moss combined with the size of Calvin Johnson, the feet of Chad Ochocinco, the hands of Larry Fitzgerald and the toughness of Hines Ward.

St. Brown, a fourth-round pick by the Lions in 2021, earned his first All-Pro nod last season while racking up 1,515 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 119 catches.

Except Hill, who led the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards in 2023, the wideouts that St. Brown cited as an inspiration retired before he joined the league, making the interview a glimpse into the range of tapes the Lions standout is watching.

By racking up at least 90 receptions in each of his first three NFL seasons, a mark only matched by Odell Beckham Jr. and Michael Thomas, St. Brown is on track to put his name in NFL history books among the icons he is studying.

That research could help set St. Brown on track to break a franchise record in 2024.

Johnson racked up 1,964 yards in the 2012 season to set the all-time standard for Lions receivers. St. Brown, who came within 450 yards of the mark in 16 games last season, could conceivably crack the record if he is able to stay healthy this fall.
