The WNBA launched a new documentary series featuring rookies Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, Rickea Jackson, and Nika Muhl on Wednesday.

Titled Year 1, the doc follows the four budding stars across their rookie-season journey, beginning with the WNBA draft and continuing through the playoffs.

The announcement came as the WNBA's popularity has soared amid the arrival of Caitlin Clark, Reese and several other high-profile rookies who ascended to stardom in college.

Clark's absence from this documentary is glaring, as she's emerged as by far the most marketable women's basketball player in recent memory. It's unclear if the WNBA approached Clark and she declined to participate.

Reese, Clark's college rival turned Chicago Sky forward, is in the midst of a stellar rookie campaign. She has already set the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles in a single season with 10, emerging as an explosive interior force.

Cardoso has been Reese's co-star banging bodies in the middle for the Sky, with the South Carolina product averaging 8.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in her rookie campaign.

Jackson was the No. 4 overall pick in the WNBA draft and was part of a star-studded duo with Cameron Brink on the Los Angeles Sparks before Brink suffered a torn ACL.

Muhl, a second-round pick out of UConn, has struggled to gain playing time during her rookie season with the Seattle Storm. She nevertheless carries a following after starring with the Huskies and is considered one of the style stars of the WNBA.
