Former NBA All-Star guard Kemba Walker announced his retirement from basketball in a social media post Tuesday.

Walker most recently played for AS Monaco of France's LNB Pro A. The 34-year-old made four All-Star teams and was an All-NBA selection in 2019 but saw his career derailed by injuries.

Walker spent his first eight NBA seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, becoming the franchise's all-time leading scorer before leaving for the Boston Celtics in free agency in 2019.

Unfortunately, Walker's body began falling apart soon after his arrival in Boston and he never played more than 56 games in an NBA season again. The Celtics traded Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2021, but the Thunder waived him before he ever played a game with the franchise.

The Knicks picked Walker up following his Oklahoma City exit, but his tenure in New York lasted just 37 games. His NBA career was essentially over at that point, with his lone remaining games coming in a short stint with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2022-23 season.

AS Monaco signed Walker last July, but he did not impress, averaging just 4.4 points and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 38.9 percent from the floor.

In addition to his professional career, Walker is also one of the most decorated players in UConn basketball history. He won Most Outstanding Player in the 2011 Final Four while leading the Huskies to a national championship.
