Liv Morgan Needs Rhea Ripley Back, Finn Bálor's Last Chance and More WWE Raw Takes

Kevin Berge

The July 1 edition of WWE Raw set the final stage for Money in the Bank 2024.

The Judgment Day is falling apart in Liv Morgan's hands. While she continues to manipulate Dominik Mysterio, Finn Bálor has accepted her as an ally in spite of Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest.

Drew McIntyre qualified for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match over Sheamus and Ilja Dragunov, both of whom fought hard in an excellent main event.

Sheamus broke Ludwig Kaiser's ribs last week, and the German declared his intention to exact revenge as soon as he was cleared to compete again.

It was a wild night that set the stage for something special in the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Saturday night.

Liv Morgan Needs Rhea Ripley Back As Soon as Possible

Liv Morgan has never been more popular than she is right now. She has embraced the seductress role, successfully ripping apart the foundations of everything Rhea Ripley built with The Judgment Day.

While the writing for this angle has waffled between provocative and offensive, it's certainly getting over with fans. That may not last without Ripley returning soon, though.

While Morgan and Dominik Mysterio have story left to tell before Mami's return, the women's division is running low on worthy challengers for the champion.

A potential hot angle with Lyra Valkyria was put on the back-burner for a quick build to Morgan vs. Zelina Vega that delivered a forgettable in-ring encounter beyond the invested crowd.

Anyone but the former champion fighting Morgan is going to struggle to escape the looming shadow of a returning Ripley.

WWE should not rush the Australian back any sooner than when she is healthy. As soon as she is, though, Morgan needs her on TV to elevate this angle to main event levels.

Judgment Day Breakup Will Be Last Chance for Finn Bálor World Title Reign

Finn Bálor has created a solid resume over a decade-long career in WWE, but it still feels like he is missing a final piece.

The Irishman did win the Universal Championship in 2016, but he never got a chance to run with the title due to an injury suffered in the title match.

Bálor is a former intercontinental and United States champion as well as a three-time tag team champion, but he has not touched either Raw or SmackDown world title since that injury.

It remains a lingering story that could be finally solved with the end of The Judgment Day.

Currently, Bálor is overshadowed by Damian Priest holding a World Heavyweight Championship that he has never had. This week's Raw teased a growing jealousy over that fact.

A definitive breakup could set up Bálor to challenge for the world title, hoping to prove himself as better than The Archer of Infamy.

That Judgment Day end will likely come before the end of the year, and The Prince will be a popular star again for a while.

WWE must give him a chance to run with the world title during that time. Bálor turns 43 before the end of July, so this is likely his last chance to run at the top of the card.

Ludwig Kaiser Has Earned Midcard Push

Ludwig Kaiser has made the most of his first true opportunity to shine as a solo act in recent months.

While Gunther prepares for a World Heavyweight Championship reign, his former Imperium teammate is building a resume all his own, making the most of his rivalry with Sheamus.

It is a certainty that Kaiser will walk out of his angle with The Celtic Warrior as the victor, but it cannot end there. He must be allowed to break out of The Ring General's shadow to forge his own path in the midcard.

The German could be a great foil to stars such as Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Ilja Dragunov and more. When the timing is right, he would make the most of an Intercontinental Championship reign.

Few men have raised their stake more in 2024 than Kaiser, who is a committed performer and worker for WWE.

Ilja Dragunov Steals the Show Again

Gunther may be in line for wrestler-of-the-year awards in 2024, but Ilja Dragunov is coming for that title with every opportunity.

He left NXT after a string of great matches, especially against Trick Williams. He arrived on Raw with consistent fire, no matter who he fights.

Ricochet, Bron Breakker and Jey Uso each presented a unique challenge to him, yet he never failed to answer. Sheamus and Drew McIntyre will also be great foils for The Mad Dragon in the future.

Dragunov cannot afford to miss another premium live event after Saturday's Money in the Bank. He deserves a chance to steal the show on a major stage.

It is especially important to give The Mad Dragon a spotlight at Bash in Berlin on August 31 given his history in the German wrestling scene alongside Gunther.
