Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Celebrates Klay Thompson's Rumored Mavs Contract

It's safe to say Patrick Mahomes is a fan of the splash the Dallas Mavericks made in NBA free agency.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and noted Mavericks fan took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to celebrate the three-year, $50 million contract that Klay Thompson signed with Dallas.

He even took time to engage with Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu, who was disappointed that the Lakers were unable to sign the five-time All-Star.

It's safe to say Mahomes is familiar with Thompson. Mahomes, alongside Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce notably faced off against Thompson and then-teammate Steph Curry in "The Match" in 2023.

Mahomes was also a big supporter of Dallas in its run to the NBA Finals, with the Mavericks falling short of a title at the hands of the Boston Celtics. The Mavericks roster was outdone by a more talented Celtics squad, but Thompson surely improves the talent in Dallas.

He averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 77 games for the Golden State Warriors in 2023-24. He is also a two-time All-NBA selection and helped the Warriors capture four NBA titles during his time with the franchise.

He will now play alongside Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić in Dallas as he hopes to help the Mavericks earn their first NBA title since 2011.
