NHL Schedule 2024-25: Home Openers Revealed for Panthers, Oilers, Rangers, Every Team

Mike Chiari

The NHL revealed the home openers for all 32 teams for the 2024-25 season on Monday.

John Shannon of Sportsnet posted the full listing of home openers on X, including a look at the three NHL Opening Night games on Oct. 8:

The Opening Night games will see the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers host the Boston Bruins, the newly minuted Utah Hockey Club host the Chicago Blackhawks and the Seattle Kraken host the St. Louis Blues.

The Bruins are a fitting opponent for when the Panthers raise their first Stanley Cup banner in team history on Oct. 8 since Boston fell to Florida in the playoffs each of the past two seasons.

After years of uncertainty in Arizona due to the Coyotes inability to secure a new arena, the Utah Hockey Club will be off and running on Oct. 8 in the first NHL regular-season game in the history of the new franchise.

Fan interest for Utah's new team has been through the roof, and it figures to be a packed house at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City when the Blackhawks and young phenom forward Connor Bedard come to town.

Other notable 2024-25 home openers include Connor McDavid and the Stanley Cup runner-up Edmonton Oilers hosting the Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 9 and the New York Rangers hosting Utah on Oct. 12 on the heels of the Rangers reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last season.

It was also noted that the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils will have their North American home openers on Oct. 10 against the Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs, respectively.

The distinction is important since the Sabres and Devils are opening the 2024-25 season in a pair of games against each other in Prague on Oct. 4 and 5.
