The Atlanta Falcons gave fans a first look at quarterback Kirk Cousins in his game-day uniform on Thursday:

Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million deal with the Falcons earlier this offseason after spending the last six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Cousins is recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in Week 8 of the 2023 season. The 35-year-old is expected to be recovered in time for Atlanta's season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 8.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Cousins is seen as the missing piece on a Falcons offense that is filled with youthful talent. He will be leading a group that includes running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts.

Atlanta also drafted quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 pick in this year's NFL draft, giving Cousins someone to mentor for the next few years.

Despite being the elder statesman on a team full of youngsters, Cousins has already built a strong rapport with his new teammates.

"He gets a real good energy and real authentic-ness about it, and it's kind of fun to watch," new Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said of Cousins earlier this month. "It always makes you smile when you're back there watching no matter how many times you see it. He's a lot of fun to be around."

The Falcons finished third in the NFC South with a 7-10 record last season with Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke splitting time under center.

Atlanta is certainly hopeful that it can contend for a division title and end a six-year playoff drought with Cousins leading the way in 2024.
