Photo: Dijak Reveals He's Leaving WWE; Shoots on Backstage Contract Talks and Rumors

Dijak announced Thursday that he is leaving WWE after the company declined to make him a contract offer.

The former NXT star took to X and posted a photo of a letter that explained what happened between the two sides:

Dijak wrote that WWE never made him an offer and "stonewalled" him when he attempted to negotiate. As a result, he will become a free agent once his current WWE contract ends on Friday.

After first rising to prominence in Ring of Honor, Dijak signed with WWE in 2017 and initially found success in NXT under the name Dominik Dijakovic.

He had a memorable feud with Keith Lee that included multiple hard-hitting and entertaining matches, which is perhaps what put him on the radar to get called up to the main roster in 2020.

His foray to the main roster was ill-fated, though, as WWE made him part of a mysterious stable called Retribution and renamed him T-Bar.

It seemed at first that WWE had big plans for Retribution, but it wasn't long before the group was cast aside and presented as a mid-to-low-card act.

In 2022, Dijak was sent back to NXT and he experienced a career renaissance with the Dijak character. He did battle with many of NXT's top stars, including Ilja Dragunov, Wes Lee and Tony D'Angelo.

His last major match in NXT was a Triple Threat against Oba Femi and Josh Briggs at NXT Stand & Deliver in April, which was widely regarded as one of the best matches of WrestleMania weekend.

Dijak got called back up to the main roster as a selection of Raw in the 2024 WWE draft, but he never actually appeared on Raw after that.

In fact, Dijak's only WWE appearances following the draft were on Main Event and the X-exclusive show WWE Speed.

Given how he was able to revive his career in NXT, it is disappointing to see Dijak's run in WWE end so unceremoniously.

However, the 37-year-old veteran clearly still has plenty left in the tank, and he would be a valuable addition to any number of other wrestling promotions.

Thanks to his combination of size and in-ring acumen, Dijak figures to be a hot commodity on the free-agent market with AEW, TNA, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and other companies potentially vying to sign him.
