Angel Reese Hyped by WNBA Fans as ROY After Double-Double in Sky's Win over Wings

Angel Reese's Rookie of the Year candidacy continues to gather strength as the Chicago Sky forward earned her seventh straight double-double in an 83-72 win on Thursday over the Dallas Wings.

Reese, who had 11 rebounds by halftime, finished with 16 points and 18 boards in 29:03 on the floor. She's now all alone among WNBA rookies across the league's history.

Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon lobbied for the No. 7 overall pick to be leading the ROY conversation right now, and it's becoming increasingly harder to argue against her.

Plenty of fans on social media were echoing Weatherspoon on Thursday.

Beyond Reese's big game, guards Marina Mabrey and Chennedy Carter scored 19 points apiece. First-year center Kamilla Cardoso nearly had a double-double of her own (nine points and 11 rebounds).

There was a lot to celebrate in the Windy City as the team snapped a four-game losing skid.

Chicago's collective effort was too much for the short-handed Wings. Arike Ogunbowale's 31 points were a game high, but Natasha Howard was the only other Dallas player to score in double figures.

The Sky host the Indiana Fever on Sunday, the next installment in the growing on-court rivalry between Reese and Caitlin Clark. In terms of building on Thursday's victory, it will be important to get a win against the Fever because the reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces and 12-3 Minnesota Lynx loom on the schedule next week.
