NBA Rumors: Ex-Lakers Dwight Howard, DeMarcus Cousins, Quinn Cook to Join Taiwan Team

Paul Kasabian

Dwight Howard, DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook will play together on the Taiwan Mustangs in the Asian Tournament in July, per Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic.

The Mustangs previously announced Howard's signing on May 30.

Howard most recently played for the Taoyuan Leopards of the Taiwan T1 League, earning All-T1 League First Team honors.

Cousins, a new team member, just led the Taiwan Beer Leopards to the Taiwan T1 league Championship, winning Finals MVP.

Cook most recently appeared on the rosters for two teams in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional, Puerto Rico's top professional basketball league.

All three were on the NBA championship-winning 2019-20 Lakers. Cousins unfortunately missed the season due to a torn ACL.

Howard and Cousins found great success in the NBA as superstar centers at their peaks.

Howard was an eight-time All-Star, an eight-time All-NBA team member and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. He also led the 2008-09 Orlando Magic to the Eastern Conference title.

Cousins was a four-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA player who averaged 25.2 points and 11.7 rebounds over a four-year peak (2013-2017). He's posted 19.6 PPG and 10.2 RPG over his career.

Cook played in the NBA for five seasons, primarily as a reserve. His best year was 2017-18, when he averaged 22.4 minutes per game for the NBA champion Golden State Warriors, averaging 9.5 points and 2.7 assists. The two-time champion posted 5.1 PPG for the Lakers two years later.

Now they're all teammates on the Mustangs. Howard is the focal point here, though, as he's now part-owner of the team.

The Asian Tournament features a host of teams from the continent coming together for competition. It is already underway.
