MLB All-Star Voting 2024: Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Bryce Harper Lead 1st Update

Joseph Zucker

MLB released the first returns from the fan ballots for the 2024 All-Star Game, with New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge the leading vote-getter so far.

Judge has 1,366,315 votes. Yankees teammate Juan Soto (1,252,020 votes) follows closely behind. In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies' Bryce Harper is one of four players with more than 1 million votes.

Based on the current numbers, only Judge and Harper would be assured of a starting spot in this year's All-Star Game.

Judge is on pace for one of his best seasons ever. Through 73 games, he's leading MLB in home runs (26), RBI (64) and OPS (1.110). Harper boasts a .280/.390/.519 slash line along with 15 homers and 46 RBI in his 66 appearances.

In Phase 1 of the voting process, the highest single vote-getters in each league are automatically named a starter. Otherwise, the vote totals are wiped clean for Phase 2, and fans choose between two finalists at each position—six in the case of the outfield.

No race figures to be tighter than at National League catcher. The Milwaukee Brewers' William Contreras has a comfortable lead over J.T. Realmuto of the Philadelphia Phillies, but only 654 votes separate Realmuto from the Los Angeles Dodgers' Will Smith in third place.

The battle at the hot corner in the NL could go down to the wire as well.

Like Contreras, Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm is all but assured of moving on to Phase 2 having already accumulated 1,012,174 votes. Behind him, the gap between San Diego Padres' Manny Machado, Milwaukee Brewers' Joey Ortiz and Los Angeles Dodgers' Max Muncy is only 40,478 votes.

Phase 1 of All-Star voting runs through 12 p.m. ET on June 27. Phase 2 will then begin on June 30.

The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will get underway July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
