Report: Deion Sanders Made Colorado Players Attend Lil Wayne Show to Support Shedeur

Julia Stumbaugh

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders denies that he mandated his team attend a concert where his son Shedeur Sanders was opening for Lil Wayne, as Steve Corder originally reported for Athlon Sports.

The concert took place at the University of Colorado Boulder after the Buffaloes' spring game in April.

"According to CU player sources, Sanders made the concert mandatory for all his players and reportedly threatened to dismiss anyone who skipped out," Corder wrote.

Corder reported that one source called the event "the final straw for a few players who hit the transfer portal."

Sanders called the report "one of the best lies I've heard" in a Friday post on X.

After the intrasquad game, which was attended by more than 28,000 fans, Shedeur Sanders started off his second season as the Buffaloes' starting quarterback by performing an original song titled "Perfect Timing."

The Buffaloes have so far bid farewell to a total of 41 outgoing transfers, per 247Sports. The team marked a 4-8 record after undergoing almost a near-complete roster overhaul last spring prior to Sanders' first year as head coach.
