Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese thought she was ahead of the curve a bit when she arrived in the WNBA thanks to the work she put in at LSU.
The first-year forward said Wednesday on CBS Sports HQ that Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey "kind of prepared me for this moment." She added she "thought training camp was gonna be harder."
Reese has undoubtedly been a bright spot for the Sky. Through 10 games, she's averaging 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds, and she has posted a double-double in each of her last three appearances.
Some of the flaws that led Reese to slip to the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft are readily apparent. According to WNBA.com, she's shooting just 37.8 percent from inside five feet of the basket, and a mid-range game has been almost nonexistent.
The reigning SEC Player of the Year has also registered just one block. Eight-time All-Star Tina Charles provided Reese and fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso with a rude welcome to the WNBA when she went off for 22 points in the Atlanta Dream's 89-80 win over the Sky on June 8.
Still, there has been a lot to like from Reese's start so far and she has more than justified Chicago's decision to take her in the first round.
