The third major of the year tees off on Thursday when the U.S. Open begins at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Ahead of the start of the tournament, the U.S. Open announced tee times for Scottie Scheffler, Tiger Woods and all 156 players in the field.

Woods will be starting on the back nine at 7:29 a.m. local time in a group with Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick. Scheffler is in a star-studded group with Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele that will be teeing off at 1:14 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

Here are some of the other notable groups for the first two rounds of the U.S. Open, along with their Thursday tee times:

The first groups will tee off on No. 1 and 10 at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday.

Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite to win his second major of the year and first U.S. Open title. The 27-year-old is fresh off a victory at The Memorial, his fifth win in the last eight tournaments dating back to the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. He's currently +300 to take home the title at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The worst finish for Scheffler during his scorching-hot run was a tie for eighth at the PGA Championship last month. He won the Masters by four strokes in April for his second green jacket in the last three years.

Scheffler has three straight top-10 finishes at the U.S. Open. His career-best finish at this tournament was in 2022 when he tied for second place, one shot behind Fitzpatrick.

Woods is playing in the U.S. Open for the first time since 2020. He will be looking to rebound after missing the cut at the PGA Championship last month. This will be just his fourth tournament of the year. The Masters is the only one he has played all four rounds.

Schauffele, McIlroy and Collin Morikawa are among the top challengers for Scheffler this weekend. Schauffele is coming off a fantastic showing at the PGA Championship where he won his first major title with a score of 21-under par.

This will be the first U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort in 10 years. Martin Kaymer won the tournament in 2014. The par-70 course covers more than 7,500 feet.
