Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Jokes Wes Welker Was Overrated as NFL WR in Response to Meme

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill had some fun at the expense of former All-Pro receiver and current Dolphins assistant coach Wes Welker on Saturday.

After a post on X asked people to name a player whose hype exceeded their skills on the field, Hill brought up Welker.

Hill may just be taking some playful jabs at Miami's wide receivers coach, as he previously called Welker an "underrated coach" and said that he needed to receive more job interviews on Jan. 12.

Welker has also been complimentary of Hill in the past, even claiming that he's better than Hall of Fame wideout and former teammate Randy Moss in Nov. 2023.

"Randy Moss was the best deep ball receiver in the game," Welker said, per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. "Tyreek Hill runs the whole route tree. Name a route he can't run. How he approaches every day and every game is very impressive. That's where he separates himself."

Welker suited up for five teams throughout his career, earning five consecutive Pro Bowl nods from 2008 through 2012 as a member of the New England Patriots. He thrived in the slot and played an important role on several Patriots playoff teams while currently ranking No. 27 on the NFL's all-time receptions list.

As for Hill, he's attempting to build upon a 2023 campaign in which he recorded a league-leading 1799 receiving yards to go along with 13 touchdown catches. The Dolphins will look to improve upon a short playoff run that ended in the wild-card round.
