Tiger Woods missed the cut following a rough second round of the 2024 PGA Championship on Friday.
After wrapping up his opening round with a commendable one-over-par 72 at Valhalla Golf Club, Woods appeared to be trending in a similar direction after recording a par on his first hole.
However, the wheels fell off on the second hole. Woods dropped to four over with a triple-bogey after he dumped his third and fourth shots of the hole into the bunker. The disastrous stretch continued, as he recorded another triple-bogey just two holes later.
While he dealt with some early struggles, Woods was able to get back on track with a pair of birdies on the seventh and eighth hole of the round. This included an incredible shot on No. 8 that nearly resulted in a hole-in-one.
He wasn't able to keep the momentum going, though. Woods recorded two more bogeys to fall back to seven over and was unable to make the cut. In the end, he carded a six-over 77 in the second round.
Fans and athletes alike were disappointed by the final result after a promising opening round:
Friday marked the first time that Woods missed the cut at the PGA since 2019, and his fifth time overall.
