Tiger Woods was inches away from a hole-in-one during Friday's second round of the 2024 PGA Championship.

Woods hit the near-ace on hole No. 8 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

The four-time PGA Championship winner ended up tapping the ball in for his second straight birdie.

Woods' near-miss came from 173 yards out.

He hit the ball at 125 miles per hour to land on the green.

Had it rolled into the cup, the shot would have marked the 21st hole-in-one of Woods' professional career, as well as his fourth in a PGA Tour event.

The highlight shot came after an up-and-down performance to start out the tournament.

Woods recorded two birdies in the first seven holes Thursday, but finished out the front nine with a pair of bogeys.

He then added a pair of three-putt bogeys on the last two holes to finish Thursday having shot a one-over 72.

The 15-time major champion began Round 2 Friday with two triple bogeys in his first four holes.

He settled in later in the front nine to mark two birdies, including the near-ace on No. 8, and went into the turn with a five-over 40.

Woods is playing in his first tournament since competing at the Masters at Augusta National in April.

That event, which Woods finished with the highest score of his professional career, marked just his third time walking 72 holes since undergoing ankle surgery last April.

This is Woods' 23rd PGA Championship appearance. He has won four times, most recently in 2007 at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner is also but guaranteed to miss the projected one-under-par cut line.
