NFL Rumors: Mahomes, Chiefs vs. Purdy, 49ers Super Bowl Rematch Scheduled for Week 7

NFL fans looking forward to the Super Bowl rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers may have to be patient during the early portion of the 2024 campaign.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Tuesday that the game between the Chiefs and 49ers will take place on Oct. 20 in Week 7 of the upcoming season. It will be at 4:25 p.m. ET and air on Fox.

This is yet another challenging game in a schedule that will be filled with them for the reigning champions.

The NFL already announced Kansas City will open the 2024 season on Thursday, Sept. 5 with an AFC Championship Game rematch against the Baltimore Ravens. It won't get much easier after that, as the Chiefs revealed they will then host Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.

Patrick Mahomes and Co. will also face playoff teams in the Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in addition to their high-profile showdowns with the Ravens, Bengals and 49ers.

If the rematch against San Francisco is anything like Super Bowl LVIII, fans will be in for a treat.

Mahomes drove the Chiefs into field-goal range in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime and then responded to a 49ers' field goal with a 13-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to win the Lombardi Trophy.

He capped it off with a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman Jr., which gave the Chiefs their second straight title and third in a five-year span.

It won't be easy winning a third consecutive Super Bowl, especially with such a challenging schedule, but the Chiefs can send something of a statement to a fellow contender and the rest of the league when they face off with the 49ers again in Week 7.
