Tyrese Maxey's iconic performance in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference first-round series to keep the Philadelphia 76ers alive with a 112-106 win against the New York Knicks took a toll on fans at Madison Square Garden.

Jon Stewart, who did a spot-on Bill Simmons impression that was captured in a still from the television broadcast taken after Maxey tied the game at the end of regulation, joked on X he's "clearly getting too old for this s--t."

Stewart was one of many celebrity Knicks fans whose trauma from another devastating playoff defeat turned into an instantly iconic moment. One picture saw Tracy Morgan flipping Maxey off, while Ben Stiller appeared to be hissing at the Sixers guard.

After the Knicks took a 96-90 lead with 28 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, New York was prepared to celebrate the team's first playoff series-clinching win at Madison Square Garden since 1999.

Unfortunately for Knicks fans, they were transported back to another moment in the '90s they would like to forget when Reggie Miller scored eight points in nine seconds to turn a 105-99 deficit into a 107-105 win for the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Maxey didn't quite match Miller's efficiency in the time department, but he was able to score seven points in 17 seconds to tie the score at 97. His final shot in regulation was a 34-footer from the edge of the Knicks' logo at midcourt.

Maxey finished the game with 46 points on 17-of-30 shooting (7-of-12 from three) and nine assists in 52 minutes. He had 17 of Philadelphia's 28 points in the fourth quarter and made all four of his attempts from behind the arc.

The last three games of this series have featured historically great performances from at least one player. Joel Embiid dropped 50 points in the Sixers' Game 3 victory. Jalen Brunson had one of the best postseason games in Knicks history with 47 points and 10 assists in Game 4.

Even though Knicks fans are probably still stunned, they can take comfort in knowing their team still controls the series. New York holds a 3-2 advantage going into Game 6 at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.
