Video: Angel Reese, Breanna Stewart, More React to Candace Parker's WNBA Retirement

New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart was at a loss for words upon learning Candace Parker is retiring from the WNBA.

The Las Vegas Aces star announced Sunday she's calling it a career. Stewart was stunned upon hearing the news:

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese said she has long been an admirer of the two-time WNBA MVP to the point she didn't want to take the No. 3 jersey in Chicago since it might be immortalized by the franchise one day:

A number of other current and former players reacted on social media to Parker's retirement:

Singling out the greatest player in a given sport is often too subjective an exercise because a number of worthy candidates have a case. What's not up for debate is that Parker has indisputably put herself into the conversation.

The 38-year-old was a two-time national champion at Tennessee before embarking on her pro career. She then became the first WNBA player ever to win three championships with three different franchises (Los Angeles Sparks, Chicago Sky and Las Vegas Aces). She also ranks in the top 10 all time in points, rebounds, assists and blocks.

Outside of the WNBA, Parker was a two-time gold medalist with the United States in the Summer Olympics and won the EuroLeague with UMMC Ekaterinburg in 2013.

Few players in women's basketball history can match her consistent production and incredible list of achievements. The respect she commanded over a 16-year WNBA career was evident in Sunday's reaction.
