Aaron Rodgers was pleased with the New York Jets' decision to select wide receiver Malachi Corley with the No. 65 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft on Friday.

When speaking to reporters after the selection, Jets head coach Robert Saleh revealed that Rodgers sent him a text message and was "excited" about adding Corley to the team.

When asked about Rodgers' positive reaction, Corley told Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic that "it's unbelievable and it gives me a lot of confidence."

He also revealed that he spoke to Rodgers on the phone after he was selected, telling the Super Bowl-winning quarterback that he'll be staying at his guest house once training camp begins.

The Jets seemingly had their sights set on Corley before they were supposed to be on the clock, as they traded up to the No. 65 pick. New York sent the No. 72 selection and the No. 157 pick to the Carolina Panthers in order to do so, per ESPN's Field Yates.

The 22-year-old played four years at Western Kentucky and was named first-team All-Conference USA in both 2022 and 2023. In his final season with the Hilltoppers, Corley hauled in 79 receptions for 984 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He's at his best with the ball in his hands, fighting through tackle attempts from defensive backs and gaining extra yards. After New York selected Corley, Saleh joked with reporters that "if he had a relative sitting at the goal line, he's gonna run him over too."

B/R NFL Scout Derrik Klassen gave Corley a third-round projection in his scouting report, highlighting the receiver's ability to remain effective despite lacking finesse as a route-runner.

"Corley has a role as an underneath outlet in the NFL," Klassen wrote. "His bulky frame, reliable hands and hard-nosed yards-after-the-catch ability give him clear use cases, even if limited."

With the Western Kentucky standout's toughness and his propensity to rack up yards after the catch, it's easy to see why Rodgers is already a fan of his.

While he'll start the season behind Garrett Wilson and free-agent acquisition Mike Williams on New York's depth chart, Corley could wind up becoming one of the four-time MVP's favorite targets by the end of his rookie year.
