Adonai Mitchell Hailed by Colts Fans as Steal of 2024 NFL Draft After Day 2 Slide

Andrew Peters

The Indianapolis Colts landed Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell with the No. 52 pick in a move that fans are calling the steal of the draft.

Mitchell was a star for the Longhorns, notching 845 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He has great size and seems NFL-ready, and it was a bit of a surprise to see him fall so far in the draft.

The Colts are complaining, though, and neither are their fans.

Indianapolis' future is set up well on offense after landing quarterback Anthony Richardson last year and now a solid receiver this year, and the duo will be fun to watch as they navigate the league together.

Ahead of the start of the draft, Bleacher Report's Scouting Department pegged Mitchell as the No. 58 overall prospect and the No. 11 receiver in the draft class. He certainly showed flashes of NFL potential during his final college season, and now he's looking to prove he should have been drafted higher.

The Colts have missed the postseason the last three years, but are building a solid roster and seem poised to compete in the playoffs soon.

Richardson got limited reps during his rookie season while dealing with injuries, but he posted 577 yards and three touchdowns in four games. If Richardson can stay healthy this year, he could be due for a big season.

He will have a solid receiver in Mitchell to throw to, and the two could be the future of the Colts organization.
