The Philadelphia Police Department is reportedly launching an investigation into how a car accident involving Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. was handled Monday.

According to TMZ Sports, Oubre allegedly ran a red light in his Lamborghini and hit a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. Despite Philadelphia Police saying Oubre committed a traffic violation, he was not issued a ticket and was not given a breathalyzer or blood test.

TMZ noted that the PPD's Internal Affairs Division is looking into whether police gave Oubre special treatment since he plays for the Sixers.

Kaleah Mcilwain of NBC10 Philadelphia reported that the crash occurred just hours after the 76ers' Game 2 loss to the New York Knicks in their first-round playoff series.

Police said no one was injured in the accident, and both vehicles involved were towed away from the scene.

Oubre, 28, is in the midst of his first season with the 76ers after signing a one-year deal with Philly in the offseason. He appeared in 68 regular-season games, averaging 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals. Prior to his arrival in Philly, he logged stints with the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets.

Oubre has also appeared in all three of the 76ers' playoff games thus far, including their 125-114 Game 3 win on Thursday.

Oubre had his best game of the playoffs thus far, registering 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The 76ers, who are down 2-1 in the series, will host the Knicks for Game 4 on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
