Schefter: 'Speculation Across' NFL Links Bills to WR at No. 33 amid 2024 Draft Rumors

After trading down and out of Thursday's Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft, ESPN's Adam Schefter says Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is expected to target a wide receiver in the second round.

"The Buffalo Bills will lead off the top of Round 2 today, and there's speculation across the league that they're going to go wide receiver at that spot," Schefter said Friday afternoon on ESPN's NFL Live.

The Bills will be first on the clock when the second round begins Friday at 7 p.m. ET.

Buffalo still holds ten picks, including Nos. 33 and 60, after trading down with the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers Friday night.

The Bills are looking for receiver help for quarterback Josh Allen after trading four-time Pro Bowl wideout Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans earlier this month.

Buffalo had the chance to draft Xavier Worthy, but traded their No. 28 pick to the Chiefs, who, selected the Texas receiver and again at No. 32, when the Panthers selected South Carolina's Xavier Legette.

Now, after a record seven receivers were taken off the board during Thursday's first round, the Bills have a thinner pool to draft from.

Top wide receivers listed on the B/R NFL Scouting Department's 2024 NFL Mock Draft Big Board who are still available heading into Friday include Florida State's Keon Coleman, Washington's Jalen McMillan and Ja'Lynn Polk, Michigan's Roman Wilson, Georgia's Ladd McConkey and Texas' Adonai Mitchell.

The Bills previously held a private workout with McMillan, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Buffalo also held a top-30 visit with Coleman, per Syracuse.com's Ryan Talbot.

Beane told reporters in April that the Bills don't necessarily need a defined No. 1 receiver to "have success on offense or as a team." There is also the chance Buffalo could address the position in the trade market, where they have been tied with San Francisco 49ers' Deebo Samuel, per Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal.

Even if Beane makes a trade for a veteran wideout this offseason, the Bills could still benefit from adding a young receiver to their depth chart when the second round begins Friday night.
