Jerry Rice's Son Brenden's Top Landing Spots After Day 1 of 2024 NFL Draft

Timothy Rapp

Brenden Rice—the son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice—is off to the NFL after two seasons at Colorado and two seasons with USC.

He played well for the Trojans, catching 84 passes for 1,402 yards and 16 touchdowns in two campaigns, including 12 scores last season.

Being the son of a legendary wideout brings high expectations, of course, though the B/R NFL Scouting Department gave the younger Rice a fourth-round grade, noting that he could be "a solid vertical X receiver in the NFL. He has the size, strength and explosive movement skills to do so. With that said, Rice still needs to learn to wield his strength more efficiently."

So, what teams may be in the market for a wideout in the second or third day at the NFL draft?

Buffalo Bills

Few teams have a bigger need at wideout than the Buffalo Bills after trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans and letting Gabe Davis walk in free agency. Josh Allen is one of the game's best players, but he can't do it alone.

Washington Commanders

Speaking of needing more weapons for a rookie quarterback, the Washington Commanders should add to the receiving room behind Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. Reinforcements are needed for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

New England Patriots

Few teams need perimeter weapons more than the New England Patriots. Wide receiver has to be prioritized over the next two days, especially with Drake Maye now headlining the quarterback position. The Patriots need to do everything they can to put a strong supporting cast around their quarterback of the future.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers lost both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason and somewhat surprisingly didn't address the position in the first round (though bolstering the offensive line with Joe Alt was defensible). Justin Herbert needs some help in the passing game—Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer aren't scaring opposing defensive backs.

The New Orleans Saints need a true No. 2 option behind Chris Olave. The team bolstered the offensive line in the first round, selecting Taliese Fuaga, but Derek Carr needs more weapons.
