Cowboys Commended by Fans After Tyler Guyton Pick, Trade Back in 2024 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys used their first-round pick of Thursday's NFL draft to take Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton.

The Cowboys originally had the 24th pick, but traded that pick to the Detroit Lions and moved back to the 29th pick. Dallas used that pick to get some support up front in Guyton.

The 6'8", 322-pound Guyton brings great size to Dallas and should be a contributor from the jump. After the pick, fans praised the Cowboys for landing him while also getting a third-round pick from the Lions.

The Cowboys are desperate for improvement after a disappointing wild-card exit to the Green Bay Packers last season, and adding a talented rookie to the offensive line could help them grow in 2024.

The Cowboys have a solid option in Guyton and he could come in and immediately have an impact. Last season, he didn't allow a sack in 356 pass-blocking snaps and had a 63.7 PFF grade.

He'll look to help replace the production from Tyron Smith, who departed this offseason, and he knows that it will be a tall task.

"I feel like those are big shoes to fill from such a legendary tackle, but I'm going to work my ass off to do the best that I can," Guyton said after he was drafted, per ESPN's Todd Archer.

Dallas filled a big need by picking up Guyton, and now the team is hoping he can help them get over the hump and compete for a Super Bowl.
